28th August 2007:
It's finally here! You can now check out "FLANNEL!" on the discography page and can listen to a few new songs from the album on our myspace. The album will up for sale soon at the price of £3.00, and if you sign
up to the mailing list before it comes out, you get it for only £2.50.
23rd August 2007:
It's nearly here. And we mean it this time. We've finished working
on the instrumental parts for most of the "FLANNEL!" songs and are now going to start work on the vocals. And I'll let
you into a little secret, "FLANNEL!" isn't the only new release coming your way...
And GKY would like to confirm again, that we will
not be playing main stage at Leeds Fest 2007. Don't believe the rumours.
21st August 2007:
The first five copies of "The Ribbon Machine" have been printed and are
now up for sale on the new merchandise page.
14th August 2007:
If you would like to sign up to the GKY mailing list then please visit
this page. If you join you'll be able to keep up to date with everything GKY and
you'll be one of the first to be noted when a new CD is released without having to visit the website. Join now and
get 50p off "FLANNEL!" when it's released.
13th August 2007:
A minor adjustment has been made to "The Ribbon Machine" track listing:
"Stephen Fry" and "The Treacle People" have been swapped around so that they and the songs around them have a better
flow. Also, the remastering of "FLANNEL!" will be commencing this week (if all goes to plan), meaning that you should
definately be hearing the album by the end of this month.
7th August 2007:
GKY's first live performance at Divers Fest 07 went down incredibly
well. The band did a blistering performance of old classics, new classics and random improvisation, despite SP wandering
off after every song. The set list of this inspiring performance was:
- Nobody can do Maths
- Close the Doors on My Butt Cheeks
- Stephen Fry
- Interlude unto the Apocalypse/Belly Truckin'/Improvised Jam
Unfortunately, the show wasn't caught on camera and the sound recording didn't
work, so there's nothing for people who didn't witness it to see. But, for the people who were there, there's a great
memory that they'll be able to look back on and cherish for years and years to come.
28th July 2007:
Hopefully, in the coming weeks, we will start work on remastering "FLANNEL!"
so that it's of a listenable quality. Also, work on "Drug of the Nation" shall be commencing on the 29th July, as GKY will
be playing Divers Fest 07, and the show will be perfect footage of the band performing live, along with a few more live performances
we'll start doing in the future. When we have enough shows and GKY footage, "Drug of the Nation" shall finally be released.
And, as one last short notice, "The Gibbon Machine" will probably not be released, but we will release a full length remix
album one day that contains the remixes we've already done, which, if you would like to know are "Save the Shroom (Nightmare
remix)", "Stephen Fry (Fishes remix)" and we are currently working on a "Belly Truckin'" remix.
19th July 2007:
There have been a few adjustments made to how you can listen to GKY.
We have now converted all our songs to mp3 files and are hosting a select few on our myspace. In this way, new fans will be able to have a taste of GKY and choose whether
they would like to buy a GKY CD, that we are going to start selling soon, hopefully. As GKY have already stated, these CD's
will be sold at very fair prices: around £2.50. You can no longer listen to the songs on the discography page either. We
hope's that this will give GKY a more professional edge. Thank You.
GKY will be headlining Divers Fest 07, hopefully.
7th July 2007:
The upcoming release "Drug of the Nation" is being postponed till we have
more songs to play and have better quality props. We apologise to all our hardcore fans. There's also rather big chances of
"FLANNEL!", and maybe "The Ribbon Machine", being remastered so that the sound quality is better.
28th June 2007:
A new release is on its way entitled "Drug of the Nation". It will mark
GKY's first video release and will include music videos, studio recording videos, interviews and other GKY footage. It is
in production and will hopefully be released in the coming weeks/months. The DVD front cover can be viewed in the discography. There are also plans to start a GKY merchandise shop, which will hopefully
have our current releases at very reasonable prices. And to make them worth buying we will add on bonus tracks that don't
appear on the website. It's an exciting time for GKY!
24th June 2007:
23rd June 2007:
Despite rumours, GKY will not be playing main stage at Leeds Music Festival
07. Sorry if this has caused any inconvenience. Also, a new site has been made to archive old GKY news, so the news page
doesn't become clogged. The five most recent pieces of news will be shown on this news page. You can visit the site at gkynews.tripod.com.
12th June 2007:
Unfortunately, "FLANNEL!" is going to be postphoned for a rather long time
because of issues with getting it on the site. We apologize to all our hardcore fans, but we're sure you can wait, because
it's going to be amazing when you finally hear it. Trust me, this album's listenable.
7th June 2007:
Another remix has been created; Stephen Fry (Fishes remix).
5th June 2007:
Just to let you know the band's not dead and we're going to be putting out
the new album soon, which will be entitled "FLANNEL!". We've also put it's album artwork up and the working track list
in the discography as a little treat. Also, "The Gibbon Machine's" chances of being released
are becoming higher and the G[KY]usetbook has been refreshed because of a "certain" comment. Nothing bad about the band,
just something the band would rather not have displayed on the website.
25th April 2007:
The format of listening to the songs has been slightly changed, but nothing
that will affect your listening pleasure. Also, the new album is in the process of being created.
12th April 2007:
The long awaited remix EP, "The Gibbon Machine" is being postponed, maybe
even scrapped. One song has been remixed so far, "Save the Shroom (Nightmare remix)". The reason for the delay/scrap is
that we don't have the time (can't be bothered) to finish and remix the album and songs, although I'm sure the "Save the Shroom"
remix will appear sometime in the near future.
